Time Brackets Improvisation
In the Time Brackets improvisation, the musicians randomly and independently select time blocks within which they allow themselves to play. This improvisational technique enables flexible and spontaneous interaction between the musicians, while opening up space for individual expressions and surprises. Through free play within the selected time windows, unique soundscapes and dynamic interactions between the instruments can emerge.
Sébastien Branche
Microcompositions
Each musician has prepared a 1-minute microcomposition independently from the others. These miniatures will be played 1-2 times during the collective improvisation, accompanied by the group. This creates different perspectives of the ensemble. A group becomes mobile when attention can wander.
Andreas Nordheim
D is for Drone
The ensemble explores the world of sustained tones, delving into the depths of drone. A slowly unfolding fluid mixture of sounds gradually fills the space, until everything shimmers, vibrates, floats, and resonates. The perception of time and space blurs. It offers a journey to be taken, and after 30 minutes, one is returned elsewhere with ears well rinsed.

MEIN KÖRPER SIND VIELE
4-Channel Sound Installation by Lena Löhr
Some parts of my body don’t fit with me, yet they are always a topic.
Confusion. I want to hide something. I am annoyed.
How do I feel with myself?
My body is many.
Contradicting each other. Becoming present. Becoming tangible.
Outside. Inside. In between.

_”DISSOCIATIVE WHISPERING MACHINE”_ by Robert Rehnig
_The dissociative whispering machine dissociates not only its own material but also the focus of the audience._
_The spectral parts of the whispered text run loosely side by side
and form an almost unintelligible jumble._
_If the machine detects that someone nearby is also speaking or making noise, it synchronizes itself to speak clearly._
_This leads to the paradox that one must speak oneself in order to understand the machine._

Anweisung
The concept is that visible instructions can be given by the participants during the improvisation.
The instructions apply to all players and are intended to open a parallel communication level for performers and listeners.
One can follow in real-time who means what and how.
Chris Weinheimer
AI-generated playing Instructions
In preparation for the concert, the musicians engaged in a discussion about the questions: what does AI bring us? what is consciousness? Is the humanistic ideology regarding the current advances in AI, the findings of neuroscience, and what meditators have to say about the self and consciousness in the end? In the concert, we will use playing instructions written by Chat-GPT, which can range from silly to banal, serious or profound, and can be interpreted individually by each artist.

In 2021, EMR was in residence as part of the concert series LiLe, thanks to the support of the Leipzig Cultural Office and the KdFS. The ensemble extensively engaged with the works, ideas, and concepts of composer Christian Wolff. The entire process was observed and documented by Charlotte Ruppert. The documentary film “Das Ensemble Modèle Réduit spielt Christian Wolff” showcases a part of the process.
Following the film, EMR presents a program of improvisations and compositions. In recent months, the ensemble has been exploring works and concepts by pioneers of electroacoustic music. A part of this work will be presented.
